Shakib Al Hasan wants to retire from the elite version of cricket at home. Having made such a request, he has added conditions. Going to and from the country; Shakib will come to Bangladesh to play the Test series against South Africa as soon as he can do both naturally or more clearly if he gets security assurance.
Shakib told the news regarding retirement on Thursday afternoon in the press conference room of Kanpur’s Greenpark Stadium. The world’s best all-rounder said, ‘If there is a chance, if I can go and play in the country, the Mirpur Test will be my last match. They know the issues (of security) and are trying to figure out how to organize it nicely.’
Shakib himself further clarified the matter, ‘Like, I can go there (Bangladesh) and play and feel safe. At the same time, when I have to come outside the country, I should be able to come. I should not have any problem.’
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, a murder case was registered in the name of Shakib in Adabar police station of the capital on August 22. Shakib is accused number 28 in this case. On August 5, Shakib was charged as the instigator of the murder of garment worker Rubel. He was then playing in Canada’s Global T20 League.
BCB is working on Shakib’s return to the country, he himself said, ‘The board is looking at these issues and I think those who are related will see and see. They will give me a decision, based on which I can go to the country and play well and leave the Test edition.’
Note that Shakib’s family lives in the United States. If security is not guaranteed, Shakib may return from India to the US after the Test series.
