The Chinese decided not to fight Carlos Nassar at the World Barbell Championships in Bahrain in December, as they did at the Paris Olympics.
There is no Chinese competitor in the latest entry in the 89-kilogram category at the championship.
Instead, Kwan Ryol Roh from the DPRK appears, who is not to be underestimated at all. In principle, representatives of this country do not participate in the Olympics because they cannot meet the criteria for sudden doping tests. It’s just that the International Testing Agency cops don’t have access to Pyongyang, and that’s why the World Weightlifting Federation is cutting them.
Ro has claimed just 5 kilograms less weight than Carlos, the same as the Italian Antonio Pizzolato.
There are currently 70 riders registered in Carlos’ category, but the final list is sure to be shorter. That means at least 6 starting groups.
