At the start of the year, the Burkinabè army eliminated at least thirty terrorists holed up in the woods in Solenzo. The “Zero terrorists in the Solenzo bushes” operation also made it possible to recover a lot of equipment including Apsonic motorcycles, a tricycle, 19 telephones and 80 explosive device detonators.
Since January 1, 2025, while the population was celebrating the new year, elements of the 18th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) invested the bushes of Solenzo to flush out terrorists. According to anonymous sources, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the VDP carried out operations in the villages of Dinkiena, in the bush of Ramtenga and in Montionkuy. Pushed out of their positions, the terrorists took refuge in the Bouémahou forest.
This Thursday, January 2, the terrorists nevertheless returned discreetly to Montionkuy to carry out an attack. As they returned to their base, the BIR 18 Combatant Forces ambushed them and opened fire, neutralizing 29 of them. The Fighting Forces also recovered numerous materials including 16 Apsonic motorcycles, a tricycle, 19 telephones and 80 explosive device detonators. Galvanized by this operation, the FDS and the VDP, who took the slogan “Zero terrorists in the bushes of Solenzo”, reaffirm their determination to eradicate any terrorist presence in the area.
