Khetri Nagar: The 68th district tennis tournament for students under the age of 14, 17 and 19, which is running under the auspices of Sophia Secondary School, ended on Friday. Sophia School dominated the competition. The chief guest of the closing ceremony was Dr. Mahendra Saini. Big Sister Shiny John presided over the event. Sister Sangeeta, Nisha Saini were present as special guests. Speaking to the players Dr. Mahendra Saini said sports are very important in our life. Participating in sports competitions not only increases physical and mental growth, but also helps in human development. Participating in sports increases self-confidence and develops team spirit and competitive spirit. The tournament’s chief coordinator, Naresh Kumar said 22 teams participated in all three categories. He also informed that the final match of Under 14 boys and girls teams was played between Sophia School and Shaheed Dharampal Saini MGGS School, in both the matches Sophia School won. Similarly, the final match of Under 17 students was played between Safia School and Vayu Sainik Rajota, where Sophia School also won the tournament by defeating Vayu Sainik Rajota team in both the categories. In the final match of the Under 19 student group, Sophia School won by defeating Vayu Sainik Rajota. The final match of Under 19 Girls category was played between Sophia School and Shaheed Dharampal Saini MGGS School in which Shaheed Dharampal Saini MGGS School won the tournament by defeating Sophia School. Safia School maintained its dominance by winning five matches. Sister Sangeeta welcomed the guests. The guests honored the players by giving them awards. Principal Saroj Yadav, Principal Tatija Pradeep Mehra, Meena, Urmila, Sanjay Dhiva, Vijendra, Anirudh Dagar, Aruna Chaudhary, Shabnam, Mili Rai Chaudhary, Monica Kateva etc. was present at the event.
