Taylor Fritz Forced to Withdraw from Paris Masters Due to Injury, Affecting Turin Qualification Race

Taylor Fritz Forced to Withdraw from Turin Masters Qualification

American Tennis Player Sidelined by Rib Pain

Taylor Fritz, currently ranked 9th in the Race ranking, was in the midst of the intense competition for a qualification spot in the Turin Masters. The American had been performing exceptionally well at the Paris Masters 1000, but unfortunately, things did not go as planned.

Right from his first-round victory against Baez, Fritz had to call on the ATP physio during the match. However, the situation took a turn for the worse on Tuesday afternoon.

Due to severe rib pain, Fritz had no choice but to withdraw from the tournament, as he announced on his Twitter account.

“I’m devastated to have to pull out with so much on the line. All I wanted was the opportunity to compete for a spot in Turin, but after undergoing scans today on my oblique, it’s simply not feasible for me to continue playing. It’s time for rehabilitation, and I hope to return to the court as soon as possible. ❤️‍🩹”

A setback that puts Fritz in a similar position to his direct competitors, such as Hubert Hurkacz and Casper Ruud.
