Thousands of spectators came to the ground expecting a high voltage match. Most of the seats in the gallery were full. But their hopes were dampened by Tamim Iqbal’s batting woes.
Fortune Barisal stopped at 124 runs in 18.2 overs against Rangpur Riders. This is the lowest innings batted before in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League. Tamimra could not bat normally in front of the bowling of Khushdil Shah-Iftekhar Ahmed with the ball of Nahid Rana.
In the beginning, Nazmul Hossain Shanta-Tawheed returned to the heart, but Tamim was playing brilliantly. But Nahid came back with a bowler while hitting the runner ball down the wicket and scored 28 runs off 18 balls. This is the highest run innings for Barisal.
Apart from this, Mohammad Nabi scored 21, Mushfiqur Rahim scored 15, Kyle Myers scored 13 and Mahmudullah Riyad scored 10 runs. Khushdil took maximum 3 wickets for Rangpur. Nahid and Iftekhar Ahmed took 2 wickets.
In the second match of the third day, two heavyweight teams Rangpur Riders-Fortune Barisal faced each other. Tamim Iqbal’s team batted after losing the toss in Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla.
Nurul Hasan Sohan’s Rangpur has won both matches so far. On the other hand, Barisal, who won the first match, is looking for the second win today.
The interest of the audience is high even in the midst of severe winter with the fight between the two teams. From not getting tickets, booths were vandalized to fires. Even before the match, there was a huge crowd of spectators in front of the stadium. In the end it is to be seen whether Barisal can fight in this run or Rangpur leaves the field with an easy win.
