Takayama Rika, Japan’s judo hope for the Paris Championships, honed her skills at Kagoshima Minami High School. Known for its rich judo club environment, Kagoshima Minami equipped Rika with a fulfilling training environment, state-of-the-art equipment, and high-quality instruction.

Specialty: The Deadly “Osochigari”

Rika’s specialty, the “Osochigari,” is a testament to her dedication and refinement. This technique requires exquisite timing and skillful manipulation of an opponent’s center of gravity.

“Rika’s ‘Osochigari’ is a masterclass in precision and power,” said Coach Yamada, who watched her grow from a high school student to a national competitor.

Family Supports Rika’s Journey

Rika’s journey is fueled by the unyielding support of her family. Her father, Coach Katsuhiko, and mother, Misako, have been her rock throughout her career. She has an older sister who is also a huge supporter.
