It was a successful start to the tournament for Oihan Guillamoundeguy. The Hossegor golfer made a remarkable start by returning a bogey-free card with six birdies on the clock. In good form in recent weeks with two consecutive good performances, the only 19-year-old has, however, experienced a more complicated start to the season, for his first year in the Challenge Tour. In 5th position at -6, the former player of the Alps Tour had a good start at the end of this first day.

Landais is not only one of the provisional top 10 in the Irish tournament, closely followed by his countryman Sébastien Gros, 8th at -5. The experienced player on the Challenge Tour, with two victories, also returned a clean card after this first round.

A step forward, the tricolor Alexander Levy is at the gates of the top 10 in 14th position at -4 ahead of Benjamin Hebert and Robin Sciot-Siegrist, 26th at -3. At -1, we find five Frenchmen in 59th position with Martin Couvra, Félix Mory, Romain Wattel, Robin Roussel and Pierre Pineau. Jérôme Lando Casanova is 86th at par.

Above par, we can count Grégory Bourdy and Julien Sale (109th in +1), Gary Stal (124th in +2), Maxence Giboudot (133rd and +3), Clément Berardo (141st in +4) and Andoni Etchenique (153rd at +7).

Legergren took the lead

At the top of the rankings, Swede Joakim Lagergren is at -9. The 32-year-old had a dream start on the Irish course by scoring six birdies in his first nine holes and then followed up with an eagle on hole No. 10, a bogey and two birdies on the return. An excellent entry performance that allowed him to set the course record and take, alone, temporary first place: “I played very well today and I am happy with my game today”declared the Swede.

“It’s good to take advantage of the confidence I have in my game and get a few points. I finished second last week in Northern Ireland and also broke the Galgorm course record. Two course records in two weeks in a row is pretty amazing and definitely a first for me. Today I hit the flags straight and was able to make a lot of birdie opportunities, which made me feel comfortable on the course. I will adopt the same strategy tomorrow (Friday) and I hope I can go lower. »

In second position, his countryman Oliver Gillberg is close behind him at -8 next to American Aman Gupta.
