Suzuki launches itself into the electric car market with e Vitara, a compact SUV based on the eVX concept and also available with all-wheel drive which will arrive in summer 2025
Also Suzuki has completed its transition towards the electrification of the range: it has unveiled its first fully electric model, called and Vitarawhich will arrive in 2025 and is based on the eVX concept already seen in 2023. It is a compact SUV measuring 4.28 meters in length, proposed with two battery sizes and the option dual motor a all-wheel drivea staple in the Japanese manufacturer’s range. Robust and sculpted lines, with references to off-road vehicles such as the contrasting black plastic wheel arches, but which still remain projected into the future with the three-pointed design of the headlights and the aerodynamically designed wheels. Production will begin in spring next year in the Indian factory in Gujarat, while deliveries will take place around summer 2025. The price has not yet been defined, but it is reasonable to expect a figure of just over 40 thousand euros.
Sculpted shapes
—
At first glance, the new Vitara immediately catches your attention robust and muscular shapeswith the wheel arches protruding and accentuated by the black plastic band. The nose without a mask immediately suggests the electric motorisation, while the rear is characterized by the spoiler above the small rear window and the band that joins the headlights. The dimensions are compact, with a contained length 4.275 mma width of 1,800 mm, a height of 1,635 mm and a wheelbase of 2.700 mmfavored by the 18″ wheels placed at the ends of the bodywork.
There is no shortage of all-wheel drive
—
For its first electric model Suzuki relied on the specific platform Heartect-edeveloped in collaboration with Toyota and Daihatsu. The e Vitara will be available with two sizes of lithium-iron-phosphate battery: from 49 kWhcombined exclusively with front-wheel drive, or by 61 kWh also available with four-wheel drive. The power of the basic version is 144 Cv and 189 Nm of torque, which rises to 174 on the 2WD version with larger battery ea 184 on all-wheel drive. The latter exploits the system AllGrip-emade up of two independent electric axles which allows, in addition to the automatic mode, to exploit a function called “Trail” to better tackle the roughest routes: the wheels that slip are blocked, simulating the operation of a self-locking differential. The autonomy is not yet approved, but should be around 400 km.
Refined interiors
—
The cabin of the new Suzuki and Vitara is modern and refined, especially in the two-tone shade seen in the launch examples. At first glance, the subtle thing stands out panoramic screen which seems to “emerge” directly from the dashboard and which includes the digital dashboard and theinfotainment. There is no shortage of physical keysboth under the display and along the central tunnel, embellished with a glossy finish. The shape of the air vents is curious, arranged vertically and developed in height. The internal space is comfortable for five adults, while the trunk is quite large and well usable.
