Uzwil’s Young Guns Make Their Mark

Three local talents, Yaël Brunnschweiler (17), Sanna Germann (17), and Lina Schadegg (19), stepped up for Uzwil’s women’s team, while the men’s side relied on experience, with the likes of 42-year-old Kai Waldenberger making his debut and Dutchman Robin Tabeling (31) joining as the sole foreign reinforcement.

Uzwil Pushes Yverdon to the Limit

In their season opener away to Yverdon, Uzwil put up a valiant fight, narrowly losing 3:5. They won points through Miha Ivanic’s men’s singles victory and doubles success with Iztok Utrosa, as well as a mixed doubles win by Lina Schadegg and Robin Tabeling. Head coach Iztok Utrosa was pleased with the team’s progress:

We are on the right track. The young hopefuls are developing excellently and the experienced players give the team stability.

Lausanne Too Strong in Home Loss for Uzwil

Uzwil then fell 2:6 to reigning Swiss champions Lausanne at home. While the result reflected the gap in strength, Uzwil had reasons to be proud. Rinoy Manavalan/Robin Tabeling secured a men’s doubles victory, and Lina Schadegg delivered an impressive comeback in the women’s singles, earning a standing ovation. Team captain Miha Ivanic remained optimistic:

The performance is right, the results can be even better.

Second Team Rocks National League B
