National Monuments Host Unique Sports Challenge in Paris & Île-de-France
Historic sites are stepping outside the traditional museum experience, inviting athletes and wellness enthusiasts to participate in a groundbreaking event. On May 30 and 31, 2026, the Centre des monuments nationaux will host the Monument Health Challenge
, a series of sporting events held within the walls of castles and buildings throughout Paris and Île-de-France.

The Monument Health Challenge
offers a diverse range of activities, including yoga, trekking, qigong, fencing, and even mini golf. The goal is to refresh both body and mind while experiencing France’s rich cultural heritage in a new and engaging way.
Participating Locations and Activities
Over ten historic sites will participate, offering a variety of experiences. Advance booking is strongly recommended to secure a place in desired activities. Some events are free, while others require a fee.
Palais Royal National Area (75001)
- May 30 & 31: Demonstrations by the Paris Fire Brigade gymnastics team.
- May 31: Sword fighting classes for children ages 6-13.
The gymnastics team of the Paris Fire Brigade will present a spectacular demonstration on the Place des Glory in Palais. Founded in 1919, the gymnastics team celebrated this ‘(Vibrant) Monument’ event, demonstrating its traditional sporting spirit while as well conveying BSPP’s unwavering commitment to national heritage.
Conciergerie (75001)
- May 30 & 31: Fencing demonstrations and practice sessions for all skill levels.
- May 30 & 31: Historical walking tour ending with a climb to Mount Saint-Genevieve.
Experience fencing at one of Europe’s most beautiful Gothic gladiatorial arenas. Patrick Groc, a nationally certified martial arts expert and Olympic medalist, will lead the sessions.
Paris Champ de Mars (75008)
- May 30 & 31: Body and Graphics workshop – exploring movement and art within the Arc de Triomphe.
- May 30 & 31: Tai Chi and exploration course combining sports and history.
Participants will explore the space through intuitive dance and sensuous writing.

A 5km running course spanning four eras within the castle grounds.
