Sono Overcomes League Leaders in Away Game

Goyang Sono, currently ranked 7th in the professional basketball league, achieved a significant upset victory against league-leading Changwon LG. The final score was 79-62, with Kevin Kempao delivering a standout performance with 21 points.

The game, played at Changwon Gymnasium on February 16th, saw Sono dominate from the first quarter, overwhelming LG’s offensive efforts.

Key Performances Drive Sono to Victory

Sono’s offensive strength proved too much for LG to handle. Nathan Knight contributed 12 points, effectively challenging LG’s Assem Marey under the basket. Lee Jeong-hyeon added valuable support with 5 points and 2 assists.

“Sono’s offensive power… overwhelmed LG from the first quarter.”

Kempao’s consistent outside shooting further widened the gap, making it difficult for LG to regain momentum.

Fourth Quarter Resilience

Despite LG’s attempts to close the gap in the fourth quarter, fueled by Karl Tamayo and Yang Hong-seok, Knight responded with a powerful dunk, solidifying Sono’s lead.

Kempao’s Near Double-Double

Kevin Kempao finished the game with an impressive stat line: 21 points, including 5 three-pointers, 8 assists and 8 rebounds. He actively sought a double-double in the closing minutes, though his efforts to secure an assist didn’t result in a score.

Knight also delivered a strong performance, scoring 22 points and grabbing 6 rebounds, whereas Lee Jeong-Hyun added 18 points and 5 assists.

For LG, Assem Marey was the only player to reach double digits, with 17 points and 13 rebounds, achieving a double-double of his own.
