Le Bourget is poised for a unique political contest as former European Judo Champion Sofiane Milous, 38, enters the race for mayor in the 2026 municipal elections. Milous is transitioning his discipline and dedication from the world of competitive judo to the political arena.

A Champion’s Background

Milous’s sporting CV is impressive. He secured the European Championship title in Vienna in 2010, achieved a fifth-place finish at the 2012 London Olympic Games, and is a two-time French champion (2011, 2015). He as well earned a gold medal at the Francophonie Games in 2009 and was a European team vice-champion in 2010.

From the Mat to the Campaign Trail

“Judo taught me that falling is not an end, but a stage,” Milous explains. He balances his roles as a specialized educator, judo teacher, father, and now, political candidate. He believes this ability to manage multiple responsibilities is key to serving his city effectively.

Milous is running with a citizen collective, “Les Voix du Bourget,” comprised of 35 residents representing diverse backgrounds, including teachers, security personnel, and train drivers. He approaches leading this team with the same discipline and integrity he demonstrated throughout his judo career.
