Alpine skiing star Mikaela Shiffrin doesn’t appear to be returning to the slopes this season. The American took a bad fall during the giant slalom at the Killington (USA) track in late November and suffered a severe stab wound to the abdomen. And her recovery continues to be so slow and difficult.
“I think if everything had gone perfectly and all the drains had just been removed, we were pretty sure the season would have been possible,” she told skiracing.com. “At the moment, everything depends on how I will improve over time in the coming weeks and months. There are not many precedents for such an injury in our sport,” added the American.
The 29-year-old, who holds a record 99 World Cup victories, is currently recovering at her home in Colorado.
