Sinner, Wada’s appeal incomprehensible. The Gazette’s comment

An appeal made official just as Jannik was on the field in Beijing, which goes against the judgment of an independent tribunal and leaves a sense of injustice

Surprised, disappointed and even angry. Our first reactions are the same as those of Jannik Sinner, the number one in world tennis, when faced with Wada’s incomprehensible appeal to the Tas. The lords of world anti-doping have deemed (after almost two months of studying the papers) that Jannik’s acquittal by the Itia (independent anti-doping body of the international tennis federation) is incorrect. And now they are knocking at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne asking for a disqualification of one to two years because they do not recognize themselves in the verdict of “absence of fault or negligence”. This while the entire scientific community agrees on the irrelevance of the control (less than a billionth of a gram of Clostebol) and on the certainty that it would have had nothing to do with sporting performance in any case. What’s more: all investigations lead to evidence of external pollution and not of direct intake.
