Between the Ouagadougou International Craft Fair and Editions Sidwaya, there is a most fruitful collaboration. This has been going on for 36 years now.
At the 1st edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO), in 1990, Sidwaya was already present to give visibility to the event and to the artisans from the 30 countries who participated. It has therefore been 36 years since Sidwaya made a point of ensuring media coverage of activities within the framework of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair. For the 17th edition of the SIAO which is held from November 25 to 3, 2024, tradition is once again respected. The general director of Editions Sidwaya, Assetou Badoh and the general director of SIAO, Mariam Traoré have in fact materialized their common desire to continue the partnership through the signing of a collaboration agreement, on October 11, 2024, two weeks before the start of the African crafts festival. “Editions Sidwaya have always been alongside the SIAO and the Regional Craft Fair (SRA) to increase the visibility of these events. For this 17th edition, we expect to benefit from the support of Editions Sidwaya to increase the visibility of all activities on all its platforms so that all populations can experience the SIAO both in Burkina Faso and internationally. , indicated the general director of the SIAO. A few months after her installation as director general of the SIAO, during a courtesy visit to “the common house”, on August 11, 2023, Mariam Traoré expressed the wish to strengthen collaboration between the two organizations.
“We thank the general management for the contribution and constant support to the SIAO in the organization of its events. We intend to strengthen this collaboration to achieve common objectives,” she wrote in the guestbook. For the general director of Editions Sidwaya, the partnership with the SIAO is sacred. This is why this public media works to deserve this trust with the greatest professionalism. “It is with pride that we sign this agreement each edition. For us, it is renewed confidence, mainly due to the satisfaction of the SIAO with what we do. We try to innovate with each edition in terms of content,” continued Ms. Badoh. Proof of Editions Sidwaya’s commitment to giving more visibility to SIAO’s activities is materializing this year through the multiplication of distribution media. Thus, for the 2024 edition of the SIAO, in addition to the publication of the SIAO pages in the daily columns and the production of the SIAO News, Sidwaya added the web component as well as video production. “Through all these innovations, our ambition is to show and discover the SIAO wherever our platforms allow us to arrive,” reassured the general director of Editions Sidwaya.
