Local Judo Talent Earns Black Belt, Plans to Progress Further

A Local Judo Sensation

Severeac-le-Château – In a significant milestone for the local judo community, Christophe Contant has successfully earned his black belt, known as “Shodan” in judo, ranking him as a 1st Dan.

“Shodan” signifies both the culmination of years of dedicated effort and the promise of continuous growth in the sport.

Jindo on the Journey

Contant, a long-standing member of Sévérac Judo Club, spent over two years committed to this goal. He initially trained under the guidance of Joël Phoenix, a 4th Dan instructor, and later honed his skills under the direction of Cédric Siccardi, also a 4th Dan. Christian Javelot, a 3rd Dan instructor, served as a valued partner and mentor during Contant’s preparations.

The support of these experienced senseis reflects the club’s commitment to fostering individual growth and excellence.

A Club Man Committed to Growth

Contant’s journey to black belt was not only about personal achievement but also a testament to his dedication to the club. He has served as secretary, treasurer, and is currently a member of the steering committee. His commitment to judo extends beyond personal progression; it’s about contributing to the club’s growth and community.

Now, with the black belt under his belt, Contant is already looking ahead to pursuing his next challenge – the 2nd Dan.

The adult judo course at Sévérac Judo Club runs on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 8 p.m., while children and teens are welcome on Friday from 5:40 p.m.
