After the debacle in Munich, where Dinamo suffered the heaviest defeat in the club’s history, Sergej Jakirović leaves the bench of the Croatian champion.
After the double crown last season, Dinamo started the new season well. In the domestic championship, the Blues started with four victories (Istria 1961, Osijek, Šibenik, Gorica), followed by a draw at Rijeka and a defeat at Maksimir against Hajduk.
The setback in the biggest Croatian derby did not turn out to be a major setback for Dinamo. After all, it’s only the beginning of the championship, and what’s more important, the Croatian champion was focused on the first game of the Champions League in the new format, a match against the giant Bayern that followed four days after the clash with Split.
However, what happened in Munich, the fans and club management of Dinamo could not have imagined even in their worst dreams. The nine conceded goals at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern won by as much as 9:2, will hurt all Dinamo fans for a long time, and even the club management could not turn a blind eye to it.
There are many candidates for the Dinamo bench, and Niko Kovač, Nenad Bjelica and Igor Bišćan stand out.
