Less than two months before the early legislative elections of November 17, 2024, the Senegalese political scene is in full reconfiguration. The Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) of former President Abdoulaye Wade surprised by allying itself with the Alliance for the Republic (APR) of Macky Sall, once dominant but weakened after the dissolution of the National Assembly by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Historical rivals, the PDS and the APR have announced their willingness to form a grand coalition, open to other political forces. The aim is to maximize their chances of victory in the legislative elections and guarantee transparent elections through their membership in the Alliance for Electoral Transparency (ATEL).
This strategic rapprochement redraws the political balances in Senegal, as the country prepares for a decisive election that could usher in a new era of political cooperation.
