Itzehoe Badminton: Two Teams Set for State-Level Competition
SC Itzehoe’s Double Attack in Landesliga
The badminton world in Itzehoe is abuzz with anticipation as the annual Landesliga tournament approaches, with SCI fielding not one, but two teams. After a strong finish last season, SCI once again takes the stage with two teams, representing the state and aiming high.
SCI 1: Stepping into Landesliga Nord
The primary SCI team will compete in Landesliga Nord, setting their eyes on securing a top-half position. Under the leadership of team captain Dirk Kaack, they’ll rely on stalwarts Sonja Soltwisch, Sina Lindemann, Paul Schuldt, and Ole Beyer. However, the team must also navigate some significant departures, including Kai Hansen (club change), Adrian Nagel (badminton break), and Carlotta von Leesen (study abroad).
“We’ll miss their contributions, but the spirit of SCI remains undiminished.” – Dirk Kaack, SCI Team Captain
New blood has been infused into the squad, with Jane Junge joining from BW Wittorf Neumünster, bringing a wealth of doubles and mixed doubles expertise. Additionally, after a three-year hiatus, Malte Blohm returns to the top SCI lineup.
SCI 2: Battling in Landesliga Süd
The second SCI team, led by captain Heiko Schulz, will contend in Landesliga Süd, aiming to avoid relegation. They’ve welcomed Johanna Erdtmann and Carsten Grelck, who’ve been promoted from the championship-winning third team. The established powerhouse players like Ines Weidt, Sara Lindemann, Mareike Winkler, Daniel Erdtmann, Stefan Mantey, and returnee Thomas Abshagen remain steadfast by Schulz’s side.
Did you know? Both SCI teams will face stern challenges in their respective leagues, including a rematch against SG Rendsburg/ Eckernförde 2 for SCI 1, and a daunting encounter against reigning runners-up SG BSG/ Riemann Eutin for SCI 2.
