Diaz out after Abu Dhabi cut, eyes Spain and DP World Tour reserves
Spanish golfer, Santiago ‘Santi’ Tarrio, failed to make the cut at last week’s HotelPlanner Tour Hotels event in Abu Dhabi, marking his first exit from a tournament in the 2023-24 season.
Early Exit in Abu Dhabi
Despite a solid start with scores of 71 and 70, Tarrio couldn’t maintain his momentum, struggling on the third and final day with a 74 to finish at +3, failing to qualify for the weekend rounds.
Upcoming Schedule
With the next stop on the HotelPlanner Tour not scheduled for two weeks, Tarrio is focused on his next opportunities. He currently sits as the tenth reserve for the DP World Tour’s Hainan Classic, set to tee off later this week.
“I’ve got a couple of weeks to rest and practice before the next tour event. In the meantime, I hope to get a call for Hainan. I’m looking forward to getting back out there and improving on my performance in Abu Dhabi.”
– Santiago ‘Santi’ Tarrio
Previous Success
The 27-year-old Tarrio, known for his unyielding determination and impressive short game, has had a noteworthy start to the season. He secured a tied 14th finish at the Africa Open in February.

While Tarrio’s early exit in Abu Dhabi was disappointing, he remains focused and eager for his next opportunity to prove his prowess on the greens. Here’s to hoping we see him back in form and competing for the top spots soon.
