The Special Assets Society (SAE) has begun the delivery of eight tons of food to serve the vulnerable communities of Chocó affected by the winter wave. With the delivery of 150 markets in the Avenida Bahía Solano neighborhood of Quibdó, on December 30, the execution of the initiative began that seeks to benefit hundreds of families in Quibdó, Medio Baudó and Istmina.
The donation, consisting of 471 food packages, It was carried out in coordination with the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) and had the logistical support of the Colombian Air Force to guarantee the transfer of food to the most needy areas. The aid focuses on indigenous and Afro-descendant communities, prioritizing caregiver and community mothers, who have been especially vulnerable to the climate crisis.
Mauricio Urquijo Tejada, territorial director of the SAE, highlighted that:
“These eight tons will be distributed in several locations in Chocó, reaffirming our commitment to the populations most in need and working hand in hand with strategic allies to guarantee efficient and timely distribution.”
