Ibrahim Sissoko, who joined AS Saint-Etienne last summer, has been in sensational form since his arrival. The former Sochaux player was named the player of the month for October, showcasing his immense talent. Sissoko Proves His Critics Wrong
Ibrahim Sissoko joined AS Saint-Etienne as a free agent after parting ways with Sochaux. His arrival sparked intense debates during the summer transfer window, and he faced unexpected jeers from the crowd during his first match in the Green jersey against Grenoble.
However, Sissoko has since silenced his detractors with his exceptional performances. He has played fourteen matches, starting in eleven of them, and has scored eight goals while providing an assist. He currently stands as the second-highest goal scorer in Ligue 2, just behind Alexandre Mendy of Caen, who has scored ten goals.
An Unexpected Reception
Gaëtan Weissbeck, a former teammate of Sissoko, shared his thoughts on the reception the striker received.
On the whistles at Geoffroy-Guichard for Ibrahim Sissoko’s debut: “Yes, it surprised me a little bit because it’s never easy to be jeered at. These are challenging moments for any player, especially considering he had already experienced it at Sochaux. It must not be easy for him, especially since it happened quite quickly. So, he was understandably taken aback.”

“Ibra is a natural goal scorer, adept at finding the back of the net with his head or feet. He possesses great skills inside the penalty area,” Weissbeck commented.
“However, it’s crucial for the team to provide him with the necessary service. He has had several seasons where he scored a significant number of goals, whether it was with us last year or during his time at Niort. He has proven himself as a top scorer in Ligue 2.”
