Mumbai, 6 December (Hindustan Reporter). Former Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna is one of the players playing in the Tennis Premier League (TPL) Season 6. Bopanna, who is a two-time Grand Slam champion, represents Rajasthan Rangers, competing in the men’s doubles division.

After three days of tennis matches at the Cricket Club of India (CCI), Mumbai, his team is third in the points table with 154 points and they are all set for a place in the finals.

This is Bopanna’s first season in the Tennis Premier League. “This is a fun race and it keeps everyone on their toes because every point counts,” he said in a statement released by the organizers. I’m really enjoying playing TPL.

About playing in Mumbai after a long time, he said, I played in Mumbai in 2007 and I like playing here a lot. I have played two ATP finals on this court.

At Rajasthan Rangers, Bopanna has reunited with his former doubles partner Leander Paes, who is the team’s coach. When asked about the opportunity to work with Paes again, Bopanna said, He has been my friend for a long time. It’s been 30 years since I’ve been playing this game, I’ve learned a lot and that’s what I bring with me. So, it’s a very interesting group.

There are some talented young players playing in the Tennis Premier League this season and the two Grand Slam champions are excited to see them on the big stage. 21-year-old Karan Singh of Hyderabad Strikers has caught the attention of Bopanna.

He said, I have been watching Karan, and I think he is very talented. We need more support not only from private donors but also from the federal government to support this kind of innovation. It’s great to see young people playing on the big stage.
