It is with great sadness that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Reunion Island (CCIR) learned of the death of Mr. Roger Roland, former President of the Consular Chamber from 1995 to 2000, a symbol of the Reunionese economic world and a major player. in the development of our island.
On behalf of all CCIR members and staff, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those who had the privilege of working with him. We share their pain in times of great loss.
True, passionate and dedicated, Mr. Roger Roland left behind his CCIR history and financial success. His achievements in the field of construction, as well as his active role in the development of trade and industry, testify to his unwavering commitment to the development and organization of our sector. Under his leadership, major projects saw the light of day, including the expansion of the passenger terminal at Roland Garros airport, the construction of a new cargo terminal, and the major renovation of the Port de la Pointe des Pebbles.
Former general manager of Spie Réunion, Mr. Roger Roland worked hard to revitalize the city and local businesses. His vision of economic development has greatly contributed to the transformation of Reunion Island as we know it today.
After his work at the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Roger Roland also showed himself and participated in many public and social organizations: Social Affairs Court, SYPABAT, Economic and Social Council of Reunion Island, to name a few. His legacy is still written on the foundations of our nation.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Reunion Island pays tribute to a man of action, whose memory will continue to strengthen our efforts in favor of businesses in our region.
