Celtic Manager Backs Striker After Taxi Video Emerges
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his frustration over the emergence of a video showing striker Adam Idah appearing to be sick in a taxi, describing the incident as a “sad” invasion of the footballer’s privacy.
“I’m saddened by someone filming him in his spare time and putting it online,” said Rodgers.
Rodgers revealed that Idah, 24, had contacted him to explain the situation, which occurred on Wednesday evening, ahead of Celtic’s Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone.
Rodgers Praises Idah’s Professionalism
Despite the video, Rodgers praised Idah’s professionalism, revealing that the striker has a nutritionist and does extra work to improve his performance.
“Adam is a great young professional. He does absolutely everything to be the best player he can be,” said Rodgers.
Impact on footballer-public interaction
Rodgers believes that such incidences may cause footballers to become less approachable in public, citing increased risks of being humiliated and exposed online.
“It’s sad because kids want their things signed, but you can understand why players might not want to take that risk,” said Rodgers.
