The Government of Antioquia and the Aburrá Oriente Tunnel Concession inform the community and users of the roads near the José María Córdova airport that, as of December 11, 2024, the closure of a section of the road coming from Guarne will be implemented. to Rionegro, right in the part that connects with the external roundabout of the airport.

The measure seeks to advance with the José María Córdova road interchange project, specifically with the construction and splicing of the side walls of the access ramp to the bridge that will directly connect the Oriente tunnel with the airport, which is expected to be installed into service in February next year.

Thus, vehicles coming from Guarne and heading towards the airport or Rionegro must go to the Sajonia roundabout and return to the road via the dual carriageway to the airport to continue their route or connect with the road to Llanogrande. Likewise, vehicles going from the José María Córdova international airport to Rionegro must also go to the Sajonia roundabout to continue their journey to this town in Eastern Antioquia.

This measure is endorsed by the Mayor’s Office of Rionegro through resolution 2310 of December 4, 2023, in which the project’s traffic management plan is authorized. Modifications to the vehicular flow will be carried out in a controlled manner with regulatory signage to ensure the mobility and safety of users throughout the process.

The construction of the José María Córdova road interchange is part of the purpose of providing roads for security and competitiveness in Eastern Antioquia, by improving road infrastructure and thus strengthening connections between the Aburrá and San Nicolás valleys.
