The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ attended this Tuesday, January 7, 2025 alongside his African peers, the inauguration of the new President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani MAHAMA, at Black Star Square (Independence Square).
It was in the presence of numerous African Heads of State, Presidents of institutions, Heads of foreign Governments and a jubilant Ghanaian population that the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani MAHAMA, took the oath. The new Ghanaian president thus officially begins his second term at the head of Ghana.
Before Chief Justice Gertrude TORKORNOO, John Dramani MAHAMA swore to protect the Constitution, to serve the people, to invest in social justice, to protect and defend Ghana. Member of the National Democratic Congress, the new president succeeds Nana AKUFO-ADDO of the New Patriotic Party, who served two consecutive terms as head of Ghana.
President John Dramani MAHAMA led Ghana from 2012 to 2017. This inauguration ceremony also saw the swearing-in of the Vice-President of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane OPUKU-AGYEMANG.
