Easing Indigestion: A Quick Yoga Fix
Understanding Indigestion
Indigestion, or dyspepsia, is a common condition marked by discomfort after eating, often accompanied by pain, burning, nausea, and bloating.
According to the American College of Gastroenterology, symptoms occur frequently, at least once after each meal, causing “annoying fullness”.
Yoga to the Rescue
An ancient practice from India, yoga combines physical postures, breathing, and meditation to promote overall well-being. Professor Daniel Ferraez recommends a few simple movements to relieve indigestion symptoms:
- Find a quiet space and sit comfortably with legs slightly apart and arms relaxed.
- Gently turn side to side without shifting your initial position.
- Gently lie down, supporting yourself on your forearms, and place a rolled towel or cushion at your belly.
- Raise your legs against a wall, forming a 90-degree angle to improve blood circulation.
