A record 125 foreign players will start the 2024-25 season in the National Basketball Association of the United States and Canada, the league announced just hours before tonight’s opener between the champion Boston and the New York Knicks.

All 30 teams in the NBA have at least one foreign basketball player, and for the fourth year in a row, the number of non-American players is at least 120. This season, 43 countries will have at least one player in the “alien league”, which is three more than last year.

With the largest “foreign” representation is Canada, which also has its own team in the league in the form of the champion for 2019 “Toronto Raptors”. A total of 21 players from Canada start the new campaign. France, Australia, Germany and Serbia follow further down.

There are 61 basketball players from Europe, and 17 from Africa, five of them from Cameroon.
