The population of Dédougou came out in large numbers this afternoon, Wednesday December 18, 2024, to welcome elements of the 10th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) returning from the fighting in the Boucle du Mouhoun area.
The population of Dédougou is proud of its fighting forces. Returning from a mission to secure the territory, the fighters of the 10th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) were welcomed by a jubilant population. This follows the call from the Citizen Watch Coordination which intends once again to renew its support and encouragement to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the VDP for their efforts to secure the national territory.
With flags in hand, people chanted the country’s motto “Homeland or Death, We Will Victory.” From the crowd one could hear, “We are proud of you, our brothers.” “May God protect you”, “Long live Captain Ibrahim Traoré”. With those who are jubilant, Amado Soré, in his sixties, is full of praise for the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
“We were forced to leave our village in the commune of Sanaba to come and live in Dédougou two years ago,” he recalled. He said he went out this evening to express his gratitude to the FDS who are fighting so that internally displaced people can return to their places of origin. “We are proud of our President Ibrahim Traoré. Since he has been in power, we have noticed that the fight against terrorism is a reality,” he says, while imploring God to protect the Burkinabè fighting forces. His wish is that peace will return definitively to Burkina Faso.
