Real Madrid Held to Goalless Draw by Vallecano Ray
November 5, 2023
Real Madrid was unable to secure a victory as they played out a goalless draw against their modest neighbor, Vallecano Ray, on Sunday’s matchday 12 of LaLiga. The surprising Girona now leads the league table.
Real Madrid Trails Girona by Two Points
The Whites find themselves two points behind Girona, while Barcelona sits in third place, four points adrift, after narrowly defeating Real Sociedad on Saturday with a crucial header goal from Ronald Araujo.
Jude Bellingham’s Absence Hampers Real Madrid
Unfortunately, 20-year-old English prodigy Jude Bellingham, who has been leading Real Madrid’s attack this season with 10 goals, was unable to save his team due to a shoulder injury sustained early in the match.
Bellingham, who was awarded the Best Player of October, had previously been the hero in last week’s Clásico against Barcelona, securing a 2-1 victory with a brace.
Real Madrid’s Struggles in Front of Goal
Real Madrid had numerous attempts at goal, firing a total of 22 shots at Santiago Bernabéu. However, both Vinicius and Joselu, Bellingham’s attacking partners, failed to find the back of the net.
Fede Valverde, the Uruguayan midfielder, also had a clear chance but was denied by Rayo’s goalkeeper, Stole Dimitrievski, on six occasions.
Despite introducing Rodrygo and Toni Kroos, Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti was unable to find a solution to secure the much-needed victory.
