Rashid’s stay in Dera Trot for another 12 months

Jonathan Trott will serve as the head coach of the Afghanistan men’s national cricket team until the end of 2025. His next assignment will begin with ODI cricket in the tour of Zimbabwe. However, he will not be in other formats in this tour due to personal reasons. In his absence, Hamid Hasan will be the head coach and Nowroz Mangal will be the assistant coach.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has extended Trott’s contract by 12 months, at least the successful coach for the team. Trott took charge of Afghanistan in 2022. He renewed the contract last January and extended the responsibility till December 2024. Afghanistan cricket team played semi-final of T20 world cup under him some time ago. They then beat both South Africa and Bangladesh in the ODI series at Sharjah.

Afghanistan will participate in the Champions Trophy in 2025. The 2023 World Cup was also good for them. As they finished in the top eight in the points table, they qualified for the Champions Trophy. They defeated England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the World Cup.

Under Trott, Afghanistan won 14 of 34 ODIs and 20 of 44 T20Is. Rashid Khan played the T20 World Cup semi-final under the 43-year-old coach. Where Australia, England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Bangladesh were defeated by Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabirah.
