The French star of Real Madrid was named by the Swedish press as one of the suspects in the case. His entourage immediately issued a communique denying any involvement.
Last weekend, Mbappé himself addressed the matter. “Swedish investigators have not contacted me. I have not received a call, nothing,” he told Canal+.
“Like you, I’ve only read a few things in the press. I’ve never felt affected by the Swedish affair, because I’ve never felt involved in it.”
The Swedish public prosecutor’s office today confirmed that the investigation has been closed due to “insufficient evidence”. The statement also did not mention Mbappé as a possible suspect.
