The Colombian National Team will face Bolivia and Chile on dates 9 and 10 of the Qualifiers.

The Colombian National Team is preparing to return to action in October, with two key matches in the Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Under the direction of Néstor Lorenzo, the team will face Bolivia and Chile. The first match will be in El Alto, Bolivia, more than 4,000 meters above sea level, while the second will be played in Barranquilla, in the hot atmosphere of the Metropolitan stadium.

Worry in the selection due to Borré’s injury

One of the most discussed topics in recent weeks has been the forward position in the National Team. Rafael Santos Borré, who was Lorenzo’s favorite, now faces competition for his place on the team. Players like Jhon Córdoba and Jhon Jader Durán have shown a high level, which has generated uncertainty about who will be the starter in the next games.

Despite this, Borré has had a positive performance with Inter Porto Alegre, contributing with goals and trying to regain his position in the Colombian team, however, his participation in the upcoming Qualifiers matches is in doubt due to a recent injury.

Borré’s muscle injury in the Brasileirao

Brazilian media reported that Rafael Santos Borré suffered a muscle injury to the back of his left thigh. This annoyance left him out of the match in which Inter Porto Alegre beat Vitoria 3-1.

Due to this injury, Borré will not be able to play against Corinthians on Wednesday, October 5, and his recovery could affect his call-up for the Colombian National Team matches.

Will Borré arrive in time for the game against Bolivia?

The coach of Inter Porto Alegre, Roger Machado, commented on the situation of the Colombian striker. “Borré had discomfort at the end of training, and the Medical Department decided to wait to do tests. In the match against Rosario Central he felt injured, but wanted to continue playing. I don’t know for sure the severity of the injury, although I have an idea. I don’t think he will miss more than one game,” said Machado.

The doubt about Borré’s recovery raises a question for the Colombian National Team, which will have to define whether the forward will be fit to face Bolivia at the heights.
