Protea girls get off to a flying start with a 10-wicket win

The finalists of the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup, the South African girls, are off to a flying start. Today Friday (October 04) evening in their first match in ‘A’ group they defeated West Indies girls by 10 wickets.

Losing the toss, West Indies scored 118 runs for 6 wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In reply, the Protea girls won without losing any wicket in 17.5 overs.

Captain Laura Woolvert remained unbeaten on 59 runs off 55 balls with 7 fours. With him, Tazmin Brits remained unbeaten on 57 runs off 52 balls with 6 fours.

Before that, the girls of West Indies could not make more than 118 after losing 6 wickets for 83 runs. With the bat, Stephen Taylor scored the highest unbeaten 44 off 41 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Shemaini Campbell scored 17 runs. Zaida James remained unbeaten on 15 with 2 fours. In addition, Deandra Dotin scored 13 and Haley Matthews scored 10 runs.
