Presentation College San Fernando Alumni Association (PSA) President Jason Dailey said that “Pres” PSA has always placed the promotion of the academic and co-operative activities of the student body as a primary goal in its activities.

Dailey made the announcement at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated tennis courts on September 16.

Daily said a portion of the proceeds from the annual PREStige All-Inclusive Fete, hosted by the PREStige Foundation – PSA’s event fundraising arm – is donated to the courts’ work.

“The re-opening of this court has led to the Alumni Association partnering with certified trainers to provide training to students of the college first and then spread to other schools in the Southern community. Alumni and the general public are also invited to use the court after school hours.

“In conjunction with our coaching plan, I can guarantee that Presentation College will have a group of students dominating the national tennis circuit within one to two years,” Dailey said.

Dailey said in March of this year that the new Alumni Executive had started and the courts on the school grounds were in dire need of maintenance, so he decided to focus on tennis as his first sport.

“Why tennis, you ask? As Brian Heinlein, president of the US Tennis Association, said, ‘Tennis represents human power, grace, intelligence, wisdom, balance, speed, joy, sadness and great determination.’

“From students who have distinguished themselves in the fields of politics, law, engineering and medicine, there is no doubt that the students and alumni of Project College possess these qualities with our remarkable success in all fields. Our student body is a revolving door of success in academics, football, cricket, badminton, pan and calypso to name a few. A door will continue,” Dailey said.

On behalf of the alumni, they also thanked RBC Royal Bank for their donation towards the renovation project.

“We are grateful for their generous donation to RBC, which began the three-phase renovation process, and look forward to their continued support of the alumni’s ongoing efforts,” Dailey said.

Special thanks to Sean Lynch, Mark Rostant, Robert Ramcharan, Eric Baptiste, Sanjeev Solomon, and Indar Ramdin for their personal donations to the project.

During the July/August vacation, PSA completed renovations to the senior biology lab and officially opened on September 2, the first day of the new 2024 academic year.

The association has provided 20 upgraded desktops in the field of information technology not only for the students, but also for the Rio Claro West 2nd High School, and the school and the alumni are continuously helping it.

Work was also done to upgrade the laptops donated to the San Fernando General Hospital’s Pediatric Department. The alumni sponsored much-needed training equipment for the premiership football team, the national intercollegiate champions.

“All these activities cannot be done without the support of our large alumni body. The results of the pre-sanctification all-inclusive fete – the alumni association’s main income earner and profits must be seen,” he said. Daily

Future key projects include the improvement of the chemistry lab and the maintenance of the squash court. PSA’s next big event for the school will be hosting the Career Fair 2024 on October 4 and 5.

The school’s principal, Dexter Mitchell, thanked the students for their support and intervention at the school.

UN International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea Judge Anthony Lockey recalled his days playing in court and encouraged the student body to engage in extracurricular activities for the fun and sense of community they create.

Among those in attendance were CEO, RBC Financial Caribbean Ltd, and Regional Vice President, Corporate and Investment Banking, Darryl White and RBC Vice President, Private Banking, Simon Edwards.
