Dumka’s Sports Scene Poised for Growth as Deputy Commissioner Ensures Readiness for Tatloi Fair

Sports Associations Equipped for Growth

The deputy commissioner of Dumka, Abhijeet Sinha, held a meeting with members of sports associations on Saturday, January 4, 2026. During the meeting, he informed the associations that their demanded sports materials have been purchased. The acquired equipment includes:

  • Table tennis
  • Volleyball
  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Yoga mats
  • Gym balls
  • Chess sets
  • Carrom boards

The commissioner also confirmed that wrestling mats and other remaining sports equipment will soon be made available. Deputy Commissioner Sinha was optimistic about Dumka’s growing sports environment, expressing his hope that the district’s name will feature in state and national level sports competitions in the near future.

Preparations for Tatloi Fair Underway

To ensure a smooth experience for the large influx of tourists expected at the Tatloi Fair on January 14, Deputy Commissioner Sinha chaired a review meeting of schemes and works related to the Sports and Tourism Department. He emphasized the need for:

  • Strengthening the cleaning system
  • Completing steel railing and drainage works without delay
  • Ensuring all works are finished within four days

Sinha also directed the concerned officials to complete the necessary process for hoisting the flag near the boat shed in Masanjore and ensure Gazebo construction in Selfie Bridge does not disrupt traffic. He further urged all departments to complete construction works at various tourist spots in a timely manner and provide enhanced facilities for visitors.
