Pochettino took over the USA

The Argentine Mauricio Pochettino was officially announced as the USA coach.

The 52-year-old specialist will prepare the team for the World Cup in 2026. The USA hosts the tournament along with Canada and Mexico.

The latter worked for the last time in the English “Chelsea”.

He was previously in charge of PSG, Tottenham, Southampton and Espanyol.

Pochettino’s appointment was announced ahead of the USA’s draw against New Zealand, which ended 1-1 in Cincinnati.

In the 69th minute, substitute American midfielder Christian Pulisic opened the scoring. The visitors managed to equalize at the very end with a goal from striker Ben Wayne.

In that game, the Yankees were led by interim manager Mikey Varas.
