Alejandro Tosti, from Rosario, had another under-par round at the Paris 2024 golf tournament, although a poor finish pushed him back to 17th place when he was in sixth place with expectations for the final day on Sunday.
The player who this year joined the PGA circuit in the United States, had a round of 69 strokes (-2) and had 7 strokes under par he was in 17th place Tosti had a good start with 32 strokes into the first leg and it’s -10, just one stroke away from the medal zone. But a double bogey on the 15th hole and a bogey on the 18th set him back.
The table now has the Spanish Ram as the leader with -14 along with the American Schauffele, recent winner of the British Open. One shot behind is the Englishman Fleetwood (-13) and the fourth is the Japanese Mausuyama (-11) and the Danish Hojgaard, who made a record round of 62 strokes (-9) and is caught in the fight for the medals.
We also cannot rule out the Irish Rory McIlroy and the world number one, the American Schefflers, who are at -10 and have a real chance to put pressure on the leaders.
Tosti will start Sunday among the final groups and will need a return of 6 or 7 strokes under par if he hopes to win a medal, although his performance so far has exceeded expectations.
Emiliano Grillo, the other Argentine who qualified for the tournament, was relegated after a round of three strokes over par.
