In Switzerland, the Italians did well on the second day of the world championship. Bravo Agostini and Gasparini in the tandem, dominated by Ireland. Gold for Switzerland and Great Britain in C4 and C5
The second day of the Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich opens with a good fifth place for Italy in the women’s tandem time trial. In Switzerland, Marianna Agostini and Alice Gasparini tackle the 29.9 km with a constant pace, always placing themselves in the top 5, but without managing to fight for the podium, paying a gap of 3’32” from the top. The victory goes to Ireland with Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly, in the lead in all the splits. Great Britain completes the podium: silver for Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl, 1’10” behind, and bronze for Lora Fachie and Corrine Hall, 1’38” behind.

Fifth place was greeted with a smile by the Italian athletes. Agostini explained: “My legs hurt from start to finish, but all in all these 30 km flew by. It was a demanding test, especially because of the many technical sections that required a lot of attention in riding. Overall, we can say we are satisfied with our performance, it was a great experience”. The guide Gasparini also thinks the same way: “Today we showed that we can be competitive and that we have made a lot of progress compared to the World Cup races. We are ready to give it our all and aim for a good result in the road race”.
