Panama Set to Host “Another Level” South American Youth Games
A Regional Sporting Showcase
Panama is preparing to host the IV South American Youth Games, beginning April 12th, marking the most significant sporting event in the country’s history. The games will feature over 2,000 athletes representing 15 nations.
Participating countries include Argentina, Aruba, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Curaçao, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Suriname, and Venezuela.
Preparations and Infrastructure
The Panamanian Olympic Committee and the National Government are jointly leading preparations, focusing on strengthening sports infrastructure and training personnel. A key venue will be the Sports City named after Irving Saladino, featuring the Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez Stadium (Opening Ceremony), the Roberto Durán Arena (badminton and futsal), and the Emilio Royo Stadium (flag football).
Unlike previous editions, Panama 2026 will include a South American Village, accommodating 2,000 people and serving as a hub for recreation and cultural exchange. The chess competition will also be held there.

A total of 24 sports will be contested: Athletics, Chess, Baseball, Boxing, Badminton, Basketball, Cycling, Fencing, Flag Football, Soccer, Futsal, Gymnastics, Golf, Judo, Karate, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Swimming, Surfing, Taekwondo, Tennis, Table Tennis, Archery, and Triathlon.

, reflects Panama’s growth and ambition as a host nation. As stated by the Organization, this motto represents Panama’s growth, progress, and international profile as a host of major sporting events.
The slogan draws a parallel to the Panama Canal, symbolizing progress and connection.
The official mascot, “Anton,” a Golden Frog, embodies youth, biodiversity, and South American unity.
