Pacers Eye Historic Comeback after Balancing on Brink vs. Cavs
Pacers Fighting to Keep Season Alive in Game 3
The Indiana Pacers will have to dig deep as they return home to host the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series. Although the Pacers lost Game 2 in dramatic fashion – an epic collapse
, as BVM Sports put it – they find themselves in a must-win situation, trailing 2-0.
“We’ve got our backs against the wall, but we’re not going down without a fight,” said Myles Turner, the Pacers’ stalwart center. “We’ve been here before, and we know what it takes to make a comeback.”
Game 2: A Night of Drama and Disappointment for Pacers
Sunday night’s game was a rollercoaster ride, with both teams trading blows like heavyweights in a boxing ring. The Pacers, however, seemed to have thrown in the towel late in the fourth quarter, allowing a 13-point lead to evaporate as they fell 104-106.
Speaking about the turn of events, Turner added, “We had it in our grasp, but we let it slip away. We can’t afford to do that again. Not if we want to stay in this series.”
Turner and Haliburton’s Heroics Keep Hopes Alive
Despite the Game 2 loss, there were still positives to take away. Myles Turner and Tyrese Haliburton, in particular, put in outstanding performances.
Turner, playing with a bum ankle, scored 26 points and snared 13 rebounds, while Haliburton dropped 32 points, including a game-tying three-pointer with just seconds remaining. It was a Cinderella story
, as MotorcycleSports aptly described it.
“That’s what we need from our leaders,” said Coach Rick Carlisle. “They’ve shown they’ve got the heart, and they’ve given us a chance. Now we’ve just got to finish it.”
