Knicks Advance as Magic Falters; Spurs Oust OKC
Magic Miss Out: Wagner’s Injury Proves Crucial
The Orlando Magic’s NBA Cup dream faded last night after they were defeated by the New York Knicks, 132-120, in Las Vegas. The loss comes amidst the absence of German star Franz Wagner, who had suffered a sprained left ankle against the Knicks last Sunday.
Without Franz Wagner, they missed the duel.
The Magic, now without both Wagner brothers (Moritz is still recovering from a knee injury), will have to wait longer for their first NBA Cup title. Tristan da Silva, who was expected to step up, scored only two points in around 12 minutes of play.
Knicks Storm to the Final
Led by top star Jalen Brunson, who scored 40 points, the Knicks dominated the game from the start. The Knicks are now set to meet the winners of the other semifinal in the NBA Cup final on Wednesday night.
Spurs Eliminate Reigning Champions OKC
In the other semifinal game, the San Antonio Spurs, guided by the exceptional French talent Victor Wembanyama, defeated the reigning NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, by a narrow margin of 111-109. This was only the second defeat of the season for the Thunder led by Isaiah Hartenstein.
Wembanyama, in his comeback after an injury, scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, helping the Spurs secure a place in the final.
