The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) have announced an impressive extension of their collaboration with global partner Nike. The renegotiated agreement is expected to run until 2037 and includes the provision of uniforms, merchandise, marketing and content to the leagues. With this exclusive apparel agreement, Nike fulfills its role as an indispensable partner in the game of basketball.

This agreement, which also includes the G-League development league, was signed just in time for the start of the 79th NBA season and just one day after the victory of the New York Liberty in the WNBA Championship. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver emphasized Nike’s long association with basketball and emphasized the company’s role in the growth and innovation of the game. The expanded focus on youth basketball is intended to create a new space for emerging talent and enable deeper interaction with fans of all ages.

The new deal also includes a greater commitment to the development of youth basketball and more investment in the WNBA. The joint membership between Nike and the leagues is intended to create unique products and experiences for fans of both brands. Elliott Hill, president of Nike, called the partnership strategic, highlighting the global potential and passion for the sport to continue exploring new opportunities for players and fans.

Nike has remained a key player since the partnership began in 1992 and as the WNBA’s marketing partner since its founding in 1997. WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert emphasized the common purpose for basketball of women and girls, which must be promoted more strongly and presented to the whole world through continuous partnership. Nike also extended its licensing agreement as the official partner of the NBA players’ union, the National Basketball Players Association. Andre Iguodala, executive director of the union, highlighted the influence and reach that this partnership has fostered.
