Hosted by Anadolu Efes stars Shane Larkin and Elijah Bryant. Except for RECourt The third episode of the podcast program named has been published. The guest of this episode is the star of Fenerbahçe Beko, Nigel Hayes-Davis.

In one segment of the program, the US forward talked about his ‘Select Team’ adventure with the US National Team’s Olympic squad this summer.

Hayes-Davis says there is no ‘joy’ in playing basketball in Europe:

“The weirdest moments (with the US national team) were when we were sitting on the bench. I used to text my mom and friends about what I was going through in those moments. The feeling of ‘anger’ was always there. that reigns on the benches of Europe. For example, you are sitting next to someone and they are shouting in anger because of something that happened on the field coach makes a mistake on the field, ‘Look at what Shane did (as an example), what would you do if you were in his place?’ he yelled. In the summer, we were sitting on the bench with players like KD (Durant), we were all laughing. When LeBron went for the dunk, we all stood up and then sat back. It was great. I rediscovered the fun of basketball, something I haven’t felt in Europe for a long time. Everything is so intense, when something happens on the field the little ‘window of joy’ opens. There is nothing like it in Europe, everything is like that stressed and busy. “We sit there enjoying the games, and when Steph (Curry) does something on the field, we stand up and scream.”

Hayes-Davis also talked about their childhood:

“The first sport I played was American Football and I hated it. My mother and stepfather insisted that I play American Football when I was young, but I never liked it. My mother wanted me to be interested in sports. We are a middle class family, I have everything I need. My stepfather will buy me anything I want, even if my mother says I don’t need it. So the greatest person I know is my stepdad. I always change what I want to do in life. When I was little, I wanted to be a ‘demolition expert’. Then I want to be a ‘sniper’. I was watching a documentary and afterwards I thought ‘it would be great to be a sniper’. But I realized that I don’t want to kill people. Then I wanted to be a forensic scientist because I watched ‘Criminal Minds’. I thought it would be good to solve mysteries. “At that time, I continued to study and play basketball, and then my life moved in this direction.”
