A Look at the Pecking Order of the League’s 32 Clubs

In Week 8, two of the favorites to meet again in the Super Bowl suffered defeats, while the only winless team finally tasted victory.

The day showcased outstanding individual performances, and some teams are starting to hit their stride as they aim to regain momentum for the second half of the season.

Without further ado, here are the NFL Power Rankings on ESPN after Week 8 of the regular season:

Note: The number in the first parenthesis indicates the team’s position in last week’s rankings. The second parenthesis shows the team’s current standing.

(1) 1. Philadelphia Eagles (7-1)

The Eagles maintain their lead with a hard-fought divisional victory, emphasizing the importance of winning at any cost in a closely contested league. — R.Z.


(4) 2. Miami Dolphins (6-2)

The Dolphins may be the most explosive team in the league, but they still need to prove themselves against winning teams this season. Their losses against winning opponents raise doubts about their true potential. — E.C.


(3) 3. Baltimore Ravens (6-2)

Baltimore climbed to third place in the rankings with a hard-fought win against Arizona. Their offense has shown signs of improvement, scoring over 30 points for the second consecutive game. It seems like they have found their rhythm. –LMV


(2) 4. Kansas City Chiefs (6-2)

Kansas City couldn’t recover from one of Patrick Mahomes’ rare off-days. However, it’s important to note that the Chiefs’ success doesn’t solely rely on their quarterback. Mahomes’ consistency is a key factor in their ability to win consistently. — R.Z.


(6) 5. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-2)

The Jaguars are currently on a five-game winning streak, making them one of the most formidable teams in the league. However, their momentum will be tested when they face the 49ers after their bye week. It will determine if they are a legitimate contender. — E.C.


(8) 6. Dallas Cowboys (5-2)

The Cowboys have a chance to reclaim the top spot in the NL East and prove their ability to defeat strong opponents when they face the Eagles. It’s an opportunity for them to make a statement. –LMV


(7) 7. Detroit Lions (6-2)

The Lions secured an important victory on “Monday Night Football,” but there is a feeling that they could have performed even better against the Raiders. They need to capitalize on their opportunities to solidify their position. — R.Z.
