Yanni Wetzel Joins New Zealand National Team for FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027

November 15, 2025 – Yanni Wetzel, the power forward/center for the Akita Northern Happinets, has been selected to represent New Zealand in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027. The 29-year-old, born in New Zealand, will join the national team from November 17 to December 2.

About Yanni Wetzel

Standing at 208cm and weighing 109kg, Wetzel brings a strong presence to the court. Born on July 8, 1996, he has a wealth of experience playing both college basketball in the U.S. and professionally in Australia, Spain, Germany, and Japan.
