“I can’t explain what happened on the approach after my fall. It was a bad wedge shot and I found myself stuck in the green bunker. The sand was too firm and the ball too fast. From there it was really difficult to putt. It was a disastrous hole especially as I got 3 putts on 17. I was very happy that I made a birdie on 18. If it was the last round I would have been devastated but I knew that there 18 holes left to rectify the situation.
Note that a similar mishap befell the world’s best player at the US Women’s Open. He scored a 10 on hole No. 12 on the Lancaster course in Pennsylvania, is now a par 3.
But let’s say, Nelly Korda was touched but not yet drowned!
