Hanging out with UFC fighters and seeing their gruesome injuries, Zhang gained a new perspective on her own neck issues. “It definitely gave me a new appreciation for what I’ve been able to do and the types of things I can still do,” she said. Working with plus-lucas Gleaves, her instructor, Zhang has focused on “keeping my head still, trying to create more lag in my swing, and trying to keep everything connected throughout the swing.”

Nelly Korda, aiming to bounce back from her recent knee injury, had a thrilling day at the Liberty National. She started with three pars, added a birdie at the fourth, and then stuck her approach shot from 105 yards to within four feet on the par-5 sixth.
After pars at the seventh and eighth, Korda dumped her drive into the water at the par-5 ninth but made an incredible up-and-down to save par. She’d make only one bogey the rest of the day, at the 13th, but responded with birdies at the 14th, 16th, and 17th, and finished with another birdie at the 18th to share the lead.
Zhang Ready to Compete Again
As for Zhang, the LPGA rookie is ready to compete again after her injury, declaring, “I’m really excited to get back out there and play some golf.” She acknowledged the pressure of returning but seems determined to focus on her game and what she can control.
